What happened at Virginia Tech yesterday is a great tragedy to our country. It could have happened anywhere, involving any of us or our loved ones. As I contemplate the events I can’t help thinking what I would have done. What if I was there while some prozac’d mental case lived out some hellish video game fantasy? Could the outcome have been different?
Probably not since approximately a year ago the VT campus chiefs banned law abiding citizens from exercising their 2nd amendment rights. By not allowing concealed weapon permit holders to carry on campus, the Virginia Tech decision makers removed nearly any chance the students and faculty had in defending themselves and others from this lunatics’ attack.
Only a day later and I’m already seeing a lot of anti-gun talk gearing up again and this puzzles me almost as much as the tragedy itself. Why? Because I know and history shows that once you take away the tools necessary for a person to defend their self, then there’s nothing to stop the predatory criminals from feasting on the weak and helpless. The police investigate homicides, but rarely do they prevent them. The VT tragedy could be exponentially more of a disaster for all of US if the gun grabbers succeed.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of those that were lost and those who are lost and cannot comprehend the potential impact of this human disaster.
