A couple of days ago Lindsay took our youngest son to the doctor’s office for a checkup. While there Dr. Cathy Huettemann asked which vaccinations our son would be getting; to which Lindsay replied, “None today.”
Long story short. We were ultimately told that unless our child had his vaccines, then the doctors at Children’s Medical Group would not allow any of our children to be seen by any of their doctors at any of their locations.
In a letter from Children’s Medical Group dated May 22, 2008 they stated the following:
“The physicians of Children’s Medical Group vaccinate their patients based upon the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics. By not vaccinating your child you place our other patients and children your child interacts with at risk. Due to your non compliance with these recommendations, we feel it necessary to discontinue our medical services to your family.”

Just because the doctors at Children’s Medical Group follow the recommendation of the American Academy of Pediatrics it doesn’t mean that I have to! Besides, I’d like to know how I’m putting their patients at risk. If they are vaccinating everyone then they should be safe, right? Not necessarily. From everything I’ve discovered lately, it seems there are more reasons to NOT vacinate. For example, look at the Amish communities where they don’t administer vaccinations to their children. The autism rate in these communities is virtually non-existent. In comparison to the majority of children in America who are vaccinated (usually at the strict urging of the doctors) the odds a child will develop autism (according to some studies) is like 1 out of every 200.
I say no thank you Children’s Medical Group! My children are not going to be injected with mercury, live viruses, and cancers (especially at birth). I’d suggest that instead of relying soley on the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics, who in all probability profits from the medical companies (big pharma) who make the vaccines, that you get back to practicing medicine and do some research of your own instead of denying medical care to children! Fortunately, there are other doctor groups who are more knowledgeable about the pros and cons of vaccines. Not only are they more knowledgeable, but they also see the recommendation of the American Academy of Pediatrics for what it is… a recommendation!

My children have been vaccinated and we’ve been very blessed not to have had any reactions from the shots, our pediatric group (pediatric and adolescent med.) was not pushy and always gave literature prior to the time. My only regret was letting my kids get the chicken pox vaccine. Both of my kids started getting these nasty warts all over and I ‘ve spent a fortune having them frozen off. My understanding from the Dermatoligist is they are cousins to the chicken pox virus. My parents have noticed more kids are warty than they can remember in their 65 years.
to the No vaccines No doctor blog, what you don’t know is not every doctor in childrens medical staff follows this rule of no vaccines, then your not a patient in our group, they do strongly believe in vaccines , but not all will refuse to see a child for this reason. And no pediatric vaccines used by Childrens Medical Group contain Thimerisol(Mercury) The diseases our children are vaccinated against still exsist, and could potentially kill our children, quite horribly.

It obviously doesn’t matter that “not every doctor in Children’s medical staff follows this rule of no vaccines”; because according to their office manager, a general consensus was reached by the group’s doctors. A group decision that my children would be denied medical care because I didn’t allow Children’s Medical Group to inject them with the vaccines. (Got to love a democracy)
In response to your claim that Children’s Medical Group doesn’t use any vaccines containing Thimerosal - Since you didn’t know the proper way to spell Thimerosal, it’s my guess that you’re probably unaware of the many mercury based preservatives (such as Thimerosal) available for use in vaccines; all of which can be just as harmful, if not more so, than Thimerosal. I’d like to know just exactly what the ingredients are in the vaccines Children’s Medical uses. Maybe Children’s Med would be so kind as to allow us to see the package insert from the box the vaccines come in.
Finally, as for the diseases that still exist… we stand about as much chance of being struck on the head with space debris, as we do of contracting some of these “scary” diseases.
My philosophy is this, eat right, live right, and stay natural. Egotistical man has being playing god and killing millions for centuries. I’d rather take my chances with nature rather than allow myself, or my family to be injected with most of the vaccines out on the market today. And until my children can understand the ways of this world enough to make an informed decision of their own, they will do as I do.
You don’t have to look any farther than the recent human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccine to realize just how these dangerous vaccines can hurt your children and you. In February 2006 a media hoax fooled parents in Texas and other areas of the country into believing that the HPV vaccine, which experts have slammed as untested and has continued to be linked to dangerous side-effects, was required by law and that young girls had to take it. Merck Pharmaceuticals hit the news headlines after it was revealed that the company was set to capitalize on this fraud by making obscene profits from a crony deal with Governor Rick Perry, while children were put at risk. (Got to love corporate greed)

The term Thermosal is also used as the term Thimerosol so don’t judge the other anonymous blogger by the spelling. It just happens to be another term used meaning the same thing. Apparently you didn’t GOOGLE the term but had to pass judgement because she didn’t use the term you chose. I use Children’s Medical Group and I am quite pleased with the services I receive there. My children get their immunizations there. I’ve used another pediatrician in Mobile but didn’t get the quality of care that I get at Children’s Medical. I would like to have my children get the vaccines so that they won’t contract the many diseases that are out there and if that is truly their policy then good for them because I don’t want to bring my children around other children who aren’t vaccinated just in case your children give mine the cooties. And yes, although my children are vaccinated and should be protected, I’d rather be safe than sorry.

Yes, I did Google the term Thimerisol, and Google replied with, “Did you mean: Thimerosal.” The previous poster likely misspelled the term. Google only produced about 14,500 results(consisting mostly of typos) for the term as the previous poster mentioned. Google produced nearly 1 million results for the way I spelled it. However, I feel you’re missing the point of my blog here. I agree that Children’s Medical Group is a place where children (usually) receive great quality care. But for them to deny care because I refuse to allow my children to receive an injection of God knows what, that does God knows what, just isn’t right. There is no law that says my children have to be vaccinated. If there was, then this would no longer the be the land of the free!
The point of this blog post isn’t just to make others aware of the dangers of vaccinations, but more importantly to let them know they have the right to say NO! Children’s Medical Group has sunk to the lowest of levels, by saying I must, when I don’t have to! Who knows what other personal beliefs/agendas they are forcing on their patients. They need to be practicing medicine & not politics!!
Your children are vaccinated and it’s obvious that in your mind you have nothing to worry about. You have peace. It isn’t so black and white for me. I’ve done the research and I know the dangers. I say NO! That’s my right. People should stop believing everything they’re told, and stop living in fear. Educate yourself!! That’s a choice we all have too.

LAWS: It is important for you to know the legal requirements
of the vaccination laws in your state and to understand the difference
between a legal requirement and a recommendation. While vaccine
policymakers in the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the
Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommend that the MMR shot be
given to all children, your state may legally require only measles
and rubella vaccines. In this case, you have the legal option to
vaccinate with only measles and rubella vaccines and not with mumps
vaccine.
You also have the option in most states to be
exempted from vaccination or re-vaccination if you can show proof
of existing immunity. You can go to a private laboratory for a blood
test to determine if there are enough antibodies to prove existing

(1) The board of education and the governing
authority of each private school shall require each pupil, prior
to entering kindergarten or first grade or prior to re-entering
the higher grades of the schools of Alabama, to present a certificate
of immunization for the prevention of diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis,
poliomyelitis, measles, rubella and mumps (Code of Ala. 1975, §
16-30-4). Pupils who have passed their seventh birthday are exempt
from a requirement for pertussis immunization.
(2) Such certificate shall be on the form approved
by the Alabama Department of Public Health and shall be made a part
of the pupil’s school record. When a student leaves a school upon
graduation, transfer, relocation or otherwise; the school may return
the original certificate to the student’s parents/guardians and
retain a legible copy in the school record.
(3) A written objection from the parent or guardian
of a student based on religious tenets and practices shall be submitted
in person by the parent or guardian to the County Health Department
for issuance of a Certificate of Religious Exemption from the required
immunizations or testing. A licensed physician can provide individual
exemption from the required immunizations or testing on a Certificate
of Medical Exemption. The Certificate of Religious Exemption and
the Certificate of Medical Exemption will be on forms approved by
the Alabama Department of Public Health and will be accepted in
lieu of the Certificate of Immunization.

I’ve told you for years that many of the pro-vaccine crowd are hardly as unbiased and independent as they claim. I’ve long contended that many of these “independent” vaccination advocates are financially tied to Big Pharma and other pro-vaccine lobby groups. And now, finally, the mainstream media has started to follow the trail of pennies to the source of the vaccination issue. And guess what? Turns out I was right.
CBS News investigative correspondent Sharyl Attkinson discovered that some of the most prominent proponents of vaccination safety have “strong financial ties” to the Big Pharma companies that produce the vaccines they so vehemently defend.
In particular, CBS’s Attkinson found significant financial connections between the American Academy of Pediatrics, Every Child By Two (an organization that promotes early childhood vaccination), and pediatrician Dr. Paul Offit.
Nobody seems to have paid much attention to my accusations over the years. Now that CBS News is on the case, maybe people will start to take notice. Then again, this kind of financial corruption and paid advocacy is so common these days (believe me, congressmen and senators are routinely courted by special interest lobbyists who make massive campaign contributions in order to influence votes), it’s likely that people will just shake their heads in disgust and move on.

The American Academy of Pediatrics received $342,000 from pharmaceutical giant Wyeth, producers of the vaccine pneumococcal (a product which generates a whopping $2 billion in annual sales for the company). And the year that the AAP endorsed Merck’s HPV vaccine, they received a $433,000 “contribution” from Merck. Hmmm… do you think that “contribution” would have been as generous if the AAP had spoken out against the HPV vaccine?
Personally, these facts show another distasteful side to Big Pharma: they’re as cheap as the day is long. The HPV vaccine makes $1.5 billion in sales, and all they gave for the AAP’s “endorsement” is less than half a million bucks? Wonder if they said, “don’t spend it all in one place?” I’m being facetious, of course; where there is one $433,000 payment, my guess is there are surely others.
As for Every Child By Two, they wouldn’t even admit to the amount of contributions that they receive from Big Pharma, though they did admit that they do take money from the vaccine industry. A spokesman for Every Child By Two claimed that “there are simply no conflicts to be unearthed.” Oh yeah? Then why is one of the group’s treasurers an official from Wyeth Pharmaceutical?
But organizations are one thing; individuals quite another. And that’s why to me the worst of the three on the Big Pharma payroll is Dr. Offit. This man has been quoted as saying that babies can tolerate – get this – “10,000 vaccines at once.” Sickening, right? Well, Attkinson found that he also holds a Merck-funded $1.5 million research chair at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Oh, and he also personally HOLDS THE PATENT on an anti-diarrhea vaccine that’s produced by – who else? – Merck! The future royalties on this vaccine just sold for a staggering $182 million… no wonder Dr. Offit loves vaccines so much — he’s apparently fully immunized himself against poverty.

I have to tell you what happened to me yesterday. My own pediatrician has been giving me grief about being on an alternate vaccine schedule. I’m not even completely not vaccinating but picking and choosing the ones I think are important. You’d think the doctors would work with me here. Not so!! I visited with a new doctor in the hopes of finding a friendly doctor. She is the fourth one I’ve interviewed that was supposed to be friendly but turned out not to be.
The interesting part is she told me that NO doctor in Alabama is going to keep putting up with people like me or non-vaccinators because they are getting ‘pressure’ from the Children’s Hospital network to dismiss us. She said it’s a liability issue and implied it was also a malpractice insurance issue. By not complying with the ‘recommended’ schedule, we would be dismissed and no other doctor will take us!
Wow! And, here I thought we lived in the land of the FREE! I posted about my experience in more detail on my blog. We’re coming up on the dreaded MMR visit with my 14 month old son so I’m sure we’ll get “the letter” if we show up. At this point, I’m looking for a family practice doctor that will accept us.
How can a non vaccinated child be a risk for a vaccinated child ?
The vaccinated child is protected by the vaccin.
Or would they state that the vaccin does not work at all ?
After much research we have decided to not immunize our 3 children. We have chosen to use homepathic immunizations instead. They have yet to be tested to see if they work or not but in my mind it was that or nothing!
We use homeopathics alot in our family as an alternative to running to the Dr. for a RX so we are familiar and comfortable with the way they work.
Anyhow, we found a family practice Dr. that took us after being turned down by many peds. Once I established with her that we were doing no shots she has left us alone all 5 years we’ve been with her. Its been great! In fact, after sending her links from Dr. Mercolas website and sending other non-vaccine moms to her, she is interested in getting my daughters blood tested to see if the homeopathics worked or not.
My daughter started Kindergarten this year and we had to sign a religious waver to excuse her from the immunizations. Below is the letter we gave. No one has given us one bit of problem about it.
You are your childs only advocate! Stand your ground and stop being pressured by the “Doctors are gods and their words are final” mentality everyone seems to have!
To whom it may concern,
We, ________, are exercising our religious right of choice for exemption from traditional immunizations for ______________, born on ______________. As a parent and under the constitution, we have this right. We believe in Jesus’ many promises of protection for us, that He loves us, and that He will take care of us. We have chosen a safer, more natural method to immunize our children and know that God will honor that choice.
Our religious beliefs are also based upon the understanding of what God requires of us as provided for in the Bible:
