Ron Paul used to be my congressman.

He is indeed a "kook".

To get our country back!!!
How about starting a list of people that will pledge to vote for Dr. Ron Paul BY write in vote if neccessary.
If I knew how, I would start it NOW
If you know how, Please start it and count me in.

Thank you Pieter for clarifying this for us. It's difficult to research everything. I knew that something wasn't quite right about the Starbucks story. I just didn't realize the whole story was untrue.

Amazing how one comment can completely divert the topic away from my original post. :)

Thanks again!

Good grief, people! Do your research. The Starbucks story is an urban legend. Look here.

And I am, also, supporting Paul for President.

Kerrie D.,

I'm a little surprised that you could not tell that Amy was kidding about Ron Paul liking Starbucks. I don't know if he likes them or not, but I do know that Amy's husband has served in Iraq and is possibly there now. I can assure you that she knows about Starbucks' recent letter explaining why they're not providing their coffee to our troops. In short the letter says Starbucks does not support the war.

Secondly, I do not want to get into a political debate here on my blog. Hence the reason I started off this post by saying, "without getting into the reasons why I'm not considering any of the other presidential hopefuls".

You are obviously entitled to your opinion just like the rest of us here in America. I only offered this information so that it may inform my readers. Everyone has to make their own decision based on their beliefs and feelings.

I do not know if there is such a thing as a perfect candidate, but it is my "opinion" that Ron Paul is a very good guy who has an idea of what America was and should be again, an idea that is nearly parallel to my own.

That is why he will get my vote!

First of all, someone needs to notify Amy, that STARBUCKS does not support the soldiers that are involved in the war. Apparently, a group of soldiers, deployed in Iraq, wrote to STARBUCKS and asked for some of their delicious coffee. What the soldiers received was a letter explaining that not only do they (STARBUCKS) not support the war, but they (STARBUCKS) do not support the soldiers that are involved in the war. Hmmmmmm....I've given up drinking STARBUCKS, over-priced, coffee. I figured she may want to know that, since she's a military wife.

Now, I believe you left out some very important issues that you have failed to mention about your chosen candidate.

After I saw him on your FACEBBOK page, I googled Mr. Ron Paul. I'll admit, I liked what I read about him, on his web page. Then, I started thinking about "key words" and I quickly had a change of mind. I WILL NOT SUPPORT ANYONE WHO BELIEVES THAT, all persons are the absolute owners of their own lives, and should be free to do whatever they wish with their persons or property, provided they allow others the same liberty and avoid harming others by abusing their liberty.

Libertarianism is often viewed as a right-wing movement, especially by non-libertarians in the United States. Under the concept of fusionism, American libertarians tend to have more in common with traditional conservatives than American liberals, especially with regard to economic and gun control policies. However, many describe libertarians as being "conservative" on economic issues and "liberal" on social issues. (For example, most libertarians view Texas congressman and former Libertarian U.S. Presidential candidate Ron Paul to be a philosophical libertarian, even though he is technically affiliated with the Republican Party.)

Conservatives are likely to support a ban on same-sex marriage in the interests of preserving traditional order, while liberals are likely to favor allowing same-sex marriage in the interest of guaranteeing equality under the law. Libertarians are likely to disagree with the notion of government-sanctioned marriage itself. Specifically, they would deny that the government deserves any role in marriage other than enforcing whatever legal contract people choose to enter, and to oppose the various additional rights currently granted to married people

I OPPOSE SAME SEX MARRIAGE. I will not support a candidate that doesn't. I can't even believe you will, Billy!
